Tips for not sucking at Entaku no Seito’s postgame

You have no chance to survive make your time.

You can play the normal Entaku no Seito game anyhow you like with any party you want and beat the final boss just fine. If you want to succeed in the post-game, however, there are a few things you’re better off having, some of which will need preparation several hours in advance. This post (the last on Entaku no Seito, I promise) is to warn you of such things so you can get your affairs in order and not be forced to grind like crazy for something you would have gotten easily if only you’d known.

The most important spell for postgame is Levitate, and the most important thing for postgame bosses is Union Skills + Levels, so the earlier you finalize your party, the better. For the record I went with MC, Lumi, Chupp, [post-game character], Eltha and Lolon. I haven’t actually beaten the bonus boss yet, but his doom is assured, hence this post. [update: beat him, see way down below]

1. You need someone with the Force Wing (levitation) spell to reach many essential areas in the postgame. A Wizard will learn this spell at level 30, which you will reach quite easily if you keep Eltha in your party at all times. If you don’t, however, you’ll have to spend a looong time leveling her up, so make sure she’s always with you. Make doubly sure that you don’t give her a sub-class until she reaches 30 (I haven’t given her a sub-class even now) because it will halve her growth.

2. Not post-game, but keep Lumi in your party until she hits Soul Rank 7 so you don’t hit a roadblock right before the final dungeon. There’s a part in the story where you have to get her that high to get access to a special weapon + the final dungeon. Extremely annoying if you haven’t used her in a while.

3. A healer’s Holy Shield can take a few good hits for you, so it’s a good spell to have. But using it will take Lolon out of active service, so as soon as you get the chance, give someone else the healer sub-class. I picked Chupp, which has its good and bad points. The good is that Chupp can charm two stupidly powerful Dark Kobolds and bring them into the fray to do the attacking for her. She can also use Mana Convert to distribute MP to those who need it while Lolon is busy. The bad news is that her Druid+Healer classes both leave her weak with low HP, making her a favorite target for bosses. Maybe you should make Chupp a Wizard and Mints a Healer instead. Either way you won’t go wrong with two healers or more.

entaku lucifer battle4. Start training up a Paladin to use Devotion early as well. Devotion will require Speed to activate and DEF to take the hits without flinching – or AVD to dodge the hits. I recommend leaving Lumi as a Paladin and giving her either Ranger or Alchemist as a subclass to maximize DEF/AVD. Of the two I’d say go with Alchemist instead, simply because Alchemist learns Armor Mastery sooner than Ranger learns its avoid skill. And give Lumi a decent mix of DEF and SPD points from early on so she’s up to the task.

5. In Morlock Forest you will occasionally come across places where your character can dig for Fire Plants. DON’T refine these into bombs. Or at least don’t do it until you have used the combination function to combine 12 Fire Plants into 4 Fire Fruits (火薬の実). You’ll need them for the last-but-one level in the final bonus dungeon and it will suck to have to go back to Morlock and walk around looking for them at that point. For that matter, when in the dwarf mines, make sure you don’t sell any 窒息しない肺 you get as an enemy drop. You can buy them when the quest comes up, but they cost 2,300 a pop, yeowch.

6. I’m still trying to decide whether it’s worth it leaving your MC without a subclass until s/he learns Last Desire at level 45 or not. Last Desire is a skill that lets the MC use all kinds of powerful buffing/healing skills, including one that refills everyone’s MP except hers and another that heals and revives everyone in the party. The problem is that it takes 50 MP per pop and my MC only has 112 MP so she can only use it twice before needing an MP refill. If you decide to aim for Last Desire, put a decent number of stat points into either 知 or 神, preferably the latter so that your MC has at least 150 MP by the time you hit level 45. It will really help.

round327. Most likely your final party will contain MC, [post-game character], Eltha and Lolon, so instead of raising all the other characters to high levels, it’s not a bad idea to focus on two of them very early on. Popular characters to fill those remaining slots are Lumi, Mai and Chupp. Maybe Saul if you want to build a physical party.

8. Leveling up really helps if you’re stuck on a boss. You probably won’t have to do any grinding for the normal game bosses, but for New!Ol-Ohma and the bonus boss Lucifer a few levels made a world of difference. I went up to around level 40 for New Ohma and I plan to go up to 50 for Lucifer (I tried taking him on at 45, but he’s just a tiny bit annoying at that stage). [update: beat him without leveling any more, see way down below]

9. In general you can raise your party however you like, just make sure to get a good hit of dexterity to make sure your attacks actually hit your intended target. There’s nothing as painful as charging up a good attack with all the necessary buffs and debuffs on top only to see the boss sidestep it with ease. For that matter buffs and debuffs do stack, so if you have a healer standing by spamming Multihit or a wizard casting Slow on the enemy, all the better. Just don’t waste Eltha and Lolon on those roles ‘cos they’re better off causing damage or spamming Holy Shield.

I'm tempted start over in Master Mode, but I will resist.

I’m tempted start over in Master Mode, but I will resist.

10. To get good weapons after the stores stop upgrading, use really good bait in the traps. For example regular roast chicken in the last dungeon traps will get you level 45 enemies, but if you use Alda Foie Gras, you get level 75 enemies instead. Sadly enough they don’t give that much better EXP than the 45 enemies, certainly not enough to be worth the trouble of killing them, but they do have a higher chance of giving you good weapons and armor. This tip can be used in all other dungeons as long as there’s a higher version of the recommended bait available. I dunno why, but I get a real kick out of imagining the enemies dining on whisky and foie gras while I sneak up to kill them…

Right, that’s enough for the tips. Now then, I don’t want you guys thinking I’ve been playing nothing but Entaku no Seito for the past month (even though it is largely true). As part of my efforts to put the game behind me at last, I picked up Tales of Hearts again a few days ago and started Ao no Kiseki last night. Tales of Hearts is kind of fun, seriously, even when Shing is being annoying. But Ao no Kiseki? Do I really want to do this to myself? I… I dunno… Zero wasn’t bad but… urgh… If I don’t mention it again just assume I dropped it and don’t ask any questions.

Update: Beat Lucifer with my MC at level 45 and everyone else way lower. The first secret was MC’s Last Desire spell, so definitely get that if you’re having a hard time with Lucy or any other postgame boss. The second secret was Eltha’s Evil Flare attack, which is why I keep telling her to leave her in your party permanently. Last Desire -> 不死鳥の盾、闇の波動 in that order if you can, but reverse is fine too. 不死鳥の盾 protects you against magic attacks like Lucy’s Omega Impact, so you definitely want to put that back on ASAP once the boss takes it off on Turn 7.

闇の波動 will boost Eltha’s Evil Flare, which is useful because it hits both enemies at once, meaning they can’t keep up with healing enough to cause problems for you. I thought for sure Lucy would be dark element, but apparently he’s neutral so any magic works. Combine it with the Union Skill that boosts magic attacks and the attack should do about 1000 per turn using fast casting. Lucy only has about 6000 HP, so you can see where this is headed.

MC had a samurai sub-class by that point, so I gave her the holy sword plus another sword, plus all kinds of accessories to boost her accuracy. Dual wielding + Star Slash = 10 hits of roughly 200 damage, assuming every hit connects. And since Chupp managed to stay alive and spamming Multihit for most of the battle my accuracy was quite good. Poor Lucifer never stood a chance.

I was feeling pretty swell after that and almost started Master Mode… actually I did start it, but then I was supposed to play through the prologue with the original Exx and Piros and Eraste. Buzzkill, sooo not in the mood for using rented characters. And that saved me long enough to get away from Entaku no Seito. Whew, what a great ride!

That sounds like Demon Gaze which isnt a bad thing at all. I really liked Hearts but idk, im getting tired of Tales characters, hopefully Zestiria will be somehow different.

I’m still relatively new at the Tales thing so I haven’t had the chance to get tired of anything. Except how much some of the games suck. I’m not going to bother buying any of the newer ones.

There’s a good reason for such similarities: Demon Gaze is actually the sequel to Entaku no Seito, set throusands of years in the future, and both games were developed by Experience Inc.

Hi kina I really enjoy your blog! I finally got my copy of entaku no seito. It was a really brave thing for me to do because I don’t know Japanese, but the artwork of this game looked so good I had to try! Now the good part: I love this game! It really fun. The bad part: I’m having a REALLY hard time getting anywhere. I seen the walk through you posted and went to see, but it was in Japanese …, so I tried to use Google translate to see it in English and well….it came out really bad, not help at all.
So I though I would ask you if you or maybe someone somewhere could translate a basic walkthrough? Maybe just enough to get me through the game. I’ve been all over the Web and can’t find anything. I was so exited to play this game too. Your blog inspired me to give it a try. So if you could help in any way I would love you forever!! Thank you for your awesome job with this blog!!!!!

Haha, with all the compliments how could I possibly resist such a request? 😀
Unfortunately Entaku no Seito is pretty long so the FAQs are long too. I don’t have that much spare time lately. How about this, can you tell me which areas of the game in particular you’re having trouble with? Do you just need to know where to go next? If so I could see about translating just the “Go here and do this” parts. That will have to wait till next weekend though.

In the meantime, the general rule of the game is to visit all the monster trap points and fill them all with bait. The points are marked with a T on the map like this:
      https://www.tehvidya.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/entaku-trap-point.jpg
And when you hover on them it tells you what bait to use. E.g. the trap highlighted needs an Orange/Lemon.

Fill trap, fight a battle elsewhere, monster appears in trap (logo changes to this: https://www.tehvidya.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/entaku-trap-filled.jpg) and fight all the trap monsters.

Start off doing that and get back to me if you have any specific problems, okay? I’ll have the basic walkthrough ready next weekend, God willing.

Thank you so much! OK I will try the traps out and see if that’s it. I really like this game and am looking forward to putting hours and hours into it. A basic go- here- do- this faq would be perfect!! I can’t say thank you enough you have me!! Now I’m exited again. I also can’t wait to to extra dungeon with that super hard boss.
