Nothing to report

littlewitch parfait cityI haven’t started anything new, and I haven’t played much of the few games I’m currently working on. Unless you want a long post filled with Ring Dream, Rakuen Seikatsu Hitsuji mura and Candy Crush Soda updates, that is. I’m guessing you don’t.

I said last time that I would write about Littlewitch Parfait this time, so in preparation for that post I actually started reading all those long, pointless conversations the characters kept having and you know, it’s not so boring after all. I mean it’s still completely useless as an alchemy/shop management simulation, but it’s a pretty passable “cute girls doing cute stuff” game. Plus I’m on the verge of hooking Parfait up with the reasonably good-looking prince of the kingdom so I’m getting my otome game fix on at the same time.

In other news, I’m slowly beginning to understand why mobile games took over Japan so easily. On my part at least, a lot of it has to do with physical and mental inertia. Before you pick up a controller or a handheld you have to switch into gaming mode and get a certain “Okay I’m going to drop everything and play some video games now” mindset going on. With a smartphone on the other hand, you’re just checking your emails, making a few calls, then you slide easily into a gaming app or two and back out again without having to think about it too much. Less mode switching, more game playing.

The only catch is I haven’t found any non-crappy mobile RPGs yet (I haven’t really looked, to be honest) but the same principle applies to browser games. Just tab into a game, fight a few battles, water a few plants and get back to work. I complained before about having to wait hours to play a few minutes of a browser game, but when you’re busy working it’s not like you’re just sitting around waiting for that stamina bar to fill. You’re getting your work done and getting a little game on the side, versus interrupting your work for a gaming break which is a lot harder to justify. Unfortunately the catch again is I haven’t found any satisfying browser RPGs. I’m 100% sure they don’t exist because the freemium gaming model doesn’t exactly encourage gamer satisfaction. In fact I’m not even going to bother to look.

If you’re wondering what the point of all this is, it’s all just to say I’m really busy these days and every time I think I can carve out a chunk of time for some serious gaming, something or someone always crops up. So if I don’t post as often as I used to it’s because I’m busy playing Ring Dream, Hitsuji mura and Candy Crush Soda instead. So there.

P.S. But we’re still on for 7th Dragon III later this year. My body is ready.

    What happened?
    Did I miss something?
I am reading about browser games?

I am glad you “try” those games, but, I can clearly see you don’t like them.

There are so many many many good titles outhere…

I know that sometimes the enegy is lacking… even to pick a game, so I will gadly make you a list if you want, or vote a new title in your list.

RPG games are the most rewarding ones, I played many browser games, yet no one of these leave me a mark. Don’t waste your time on these please…

Sorry for this long post, I’m not one to tell you what to do, it was only a suggestion, sometimes I let some personal issues there. Sorry. I am happy you’re still writing tho, you’re a very good writer 🙂

P.D.: I am still looking to play with you Frontier Gate Boost Plus, but now I am playing Ace Attorney and Valkyria Chronicles 2, which I recommend these to you 😉

Browser games are all I can muster up the energy to play these days, but I agree they aren’t half as satisfying as proper console/handheld games.
Ace Attorney is good, I think I’ve played almost all of the games so far. Valkyria Chronicles I like the system but the realistic guns and tanks put me off. I really don’t like sneaking up behind people and shooting them in the head.

ehy kina, if you want to try a good mobile game, give a try to puzzle & dragons

you could also try granblue fantasy, people that worked on final fantasy also worked on GBF and it looks and sounds fantastic

I tried to install P&D a long time ago and it wouldn’t run on my then-smartphone. Now that there’s a 3DS version available I might just try that instead.

I’ve heard (moderately) good things about Granblue Fantasy, mainly that it’s very friendly towards players who don’t buy in-app purchases. Have you actually played it? Does it have a proper story?

don’t bother with the 3DS version of PAD, it’s got like half of the content and is twice as easy, the only advantage it has over the mobile version is not having to deal with the F2P element (gacha, stamina bar, stuff like that) it’s good for someone just starting but in the end you want to play the real thing

as for granblue, i haven’t played it because i’m waiting for the english version which supposedly is going to happen this month, i think that it does have a plot but it still doesn’t have an ending so instead you get all these side stories and the like, i’m very excited about it because some people that worked on previous final fantasy game also worked on this one

This. This stuff. I don’t want to deal with this stuff. I only do it when I have no choice.

I installed the Granblue Chrome app yesterday, then I read an English version was coming out any day now and decided to wait. I’m not that crazy about Final Fantasy (except FF8), but I do like me some Nobuo Uematsu. This will be the perfect test for my new headphones.

            Wow! You’re a fan of final fantasy 8 ?? Yay so do I !!!

            Squall x Rinoa Forever!!!

That’s how romance RPG should be done!

            Ohh the memories… :’)

          • Kina says:

I don’t know how to break it to you, but the romance is my least favorite part of FF8. I still don’t see the chemistry between Squall and Rinoa and I’ve played the game at least 5 times. Man, she’s annoying. Sometimes I think she’s not so annoying… then I play the game again… MAN, SHE’S ANNOYING!
I love everything else about the game though. The mood, the towns, the Gardens, the fashions, the battle system, the soundtrack !!!!! Triple Triad!!!!!! the dungeons. Even the story grew on me pretty after I’d played it a few times. Best FF ever!
