Give me another day or two

monkey-scratching-headI’m playing a very… uh… nice… uh, I don’t know how to describe it… “game” from Idea Factory, everyone’s favorite game developer. I thought I’d be done by now, but I keep falling asleep when I try to play it. I was going to write about it now, but it’s not really the sort of …game that lends itself to an interim report. The story is fairly interesting though, and I’d like to see how things turn out, so I’ll tough it out a little longer. Everything else, including a Disgaea re-attempt, is on hold until I get this finished. See you in a day or two.

oh boy is it neptunia? mugen souls? agarest? i’m asking because idea factory games are so bad they make for the best angry rants on the internet,i know because i made one

oh also i think this is a good moment to ask but as professor oak would put it? are you a boy or a girl? i always found curious that this blog has both otome AND bishoujo game impression but i always tought it was somewhat rude to ask…

Don’t scare me like that. I’m looking forward to trying some of the Neptunia and Agarest games in the near future. I’m very fond of Idea Factory, no joke (but link me to your rant anyway).

For the record I’m a girl. I’ll try anything that sounds interesting though, regardless of the label or intended target audience.

most of idea factory game have plenty of fanservice so a lot of review and impression usualy open with “somethingsomething THE FAN SERVICE! IT BURNS MY EYES!” mugen souls is particulary infamous in this as it got a whole minigame removed from the english version which was somewhat similiar to the criminal girls punishment one (though to be honest it’s the only questionable part of the game) which is why i asked

anyway neptunia V is honestly one of the worst rpg i’ve ever played, awfull pacing (at least you can skip battle animation’s),cutscene about nothing that last forever, random difficulty spikes, reused dungeons, recolored enemies everywhere (sometimes the recolor have such huge difference in strenght that you attack an enemy only to discover he’s like 30 level higher than you and perfectly capable of killing you in one hit) quest that require you to handle random drops (that you sometimes need to finish to progress with the game) DLC equipment that you can buy for real dollars that beat in strenght anything you can find in the actual game

when i went into it i thought people were just being vocal about the fanservice but really it’s so bad you won’t believe it until you play it for yourself,if you play it you’ll probably start to think “ehy maybe those image epoch game weren’t that bad after all”

It sounds like a regular bad game. Lots of other games have the same flaws, and at least Neptunia has the courtesy to be self-aware. I’m still a long way away from ever playing, but the fanservice is the only thing I’m certain would bother me. I hate gratuitous fanservice.
