Tokimeki Memorial Girls’ Side 3rd Story – Oosako GET!

Oosako returned to the wild! I so don’t want him. I put off doing his route as long as I could, and then once I started I rushed through it as quickly as possible just to see the ending. Unlike everyone else’s ending, his doesn’t take place in the church. It takes place on the beach, and instead of him confessing, you confess to him. Then he’s like “Eh, all right, fine.” And you jump on him and that’s it. I wasn’t expecting much so I can’t call it a letdown but still, meh.

What if despite all this you want to get Oosako? He’s pretty easy if you’ve played the games a few times and know how to go about becoming Rose Queen and winning the Sports Festivals:

1. Fail three subjects in your first exam. It’s easy, just don’t raise any stats when you start the game.
2. You’ll have remedials with Oosako.
3. After that raise your stats till you’re first in class to get another scene.
4. Along the way, let your stress get high and you’ll get an event where he lends you a book.
5. Take part in and win an event in all 3 Sports Festivals.
6. Never miss a day of preparation for the Culture Festivals. You should get an event with Oosako every year.
7. During the trip to Hokkaido, turn your friend down when she asks you to take part in the pillow fight. You should get an event with Oosako by the elevator.
8. Last, but not least, be sure to become Rose Queen in your third year.

If you do all that you should get Oosako pretty easily. Make absolutely sure you don’t date any other guy in the process, because every other guy’s ending takes precedence over Oosako’s.

Till the end Oosako’s kiddy looks (fans might call them “boyish good looks”), screechy voice and cheesy lines of encouragement never grew on me, but I’ll give him credit where credit is due: at least he’s decent enough not to date his student while she was his student. As much as I love Himuro, I know in real life he should have been fired and possibly banned from teaching for going out with the MC of TMGS1. And as for Amanohashi, if my 16 year old daughter ever told me her principal had invited her to the pool for the express purpose of checking out her body, I’d be heading over there with a shotgun so fast it would make their heads spin! Heh, maybe that’s why Himuro, Wakaouji and Amano-pervert all went for that student, because she doesn’t have any parents to protest! So kudos to Oosako for having some standards, at least.

On that high note, I say goodbye to TMGS3. Well, not goodbye for ever, I still have it, and I’ll go back eventually and play the 3P mode. For now though, I’m through with it and I need a long, long, long break before I can even think of playing it again.

Tokimeki Memorial Girl’s Side 3rd Story – Taiyo GET!

Secret character Taiyo Kasuga. The only character that makes me feel like more of a pedophile than Oosako-sensei. Even though you meet him halfway through your second year, you only start to have anything to do with him in your third year, which makes the first two years of that route very boring. Fast moving, though, since you can just join the baseball club and use that command ad nauseam until the end of the game. As with all the other secret character routes, you don’t get to go on proper dates or trips with Taiyo so his route is very dull.

Taiyo doesn’t care about your stats, he doesn’t care about bombs, he doesn’t care about Rose Queen or anything. As long as you join the club by 2nd Year 9/25 and use the club command repeatedly, you shouldn’t fail his route. The correct answer to give in each case is blatantly obvious, and much of the time either option works just fine.

His route takes precedence over the other secret character routes, so what you can do is take a save from one of those towards September of 2nd Year and use that as your Taiyo route then proceed with whatever else you were doing. Be careful not to date any of the regular guys though. Kouichi came after me on this route and I was hard pressed fending him off, but I made sure I didn’t give him the least bit of encouragement and that worked out fine.

As a character Taiyo is a complete crybaby with a huge crush on you, his sempai. He grows up a little over the course of the game but he’s still a big baby by the end of the game. Dating a guy like that would be a huge drag in real life, and I get the sense from the ending that the main character is just playing with him as a boytoy until someone better comes along (Konno-sempai!!!). Well, whatever. That’s how you learn about life, Taiyo-kun!

Now then, I’ve done all the secret characters in TMGS3 except Oosako-chan (ugh…that predator…do not want…), and I’m right before the last boss in Radiant Historia so hopefully my next update will be about one of these two games. Oh, right, I’m also right before the final boss in Suikoden III, I’d forgotten about that. Lots of games to play in this new year but so little time to do it in. I’ll give it my best shot!

Kouichi’s on my desktop!

See?

Heh heh heh.

I’ve got a Konno-sempai wallpaper as well. I switch them in and out every week. I can’t take any credit for making them, though. I downloaded them from this particular page on Zerochan. Scroll down a bit and you’ll see them. The other guys have wallpapers as well, but who cares about them? :-p

In other news, I’m close to finishing Radiant Historia and I just got through a second playthrough of Shepherd’s Crossing 2. Details to follow, eventually.

At long last! I couldn’t even enjoy his route any more, because I had to do it twice. Also I don’t really like his scruffy look. When he got the Nobelno Prize and showed up clean-shaven with his hair slicked back I was like “Ooh, I could get into that!” But when it’s time for the confession he shows up with his usual slovenly look again, meh. There should have been a “Go back and shave first, then we’ll talk” option. To make things worse, his ending says he’s jsut as cranky as ever even as you’re dating. Come to think of it, does he say he loves you? He doesn’t, does he? He says “I need you”, which is not the same as “I love you.” Just ask Meat Loaf. Gimme Konno-sempai or Kouichi any day of the week.

Anyway, the part you wanted to read, how to actually get Ol’ Crankypants to confess to you. He’s actually much easier than Taira or Oosako, because much of his route is made up of automatic events. If you manage to get the first few triggers to occur and don’t mess up the others, you should be safe. Be very, very careful not to date any other guys on his route, though, otherwise you’ll end up like this.

Now for the actual instructions. These are taken from this Japanese page: Secret Character (Aizawa Shougo) so I don’t take any credit for it, but I have tested it and it does work.

2nd Year

October – December
Check the homepage in October and it will tell you about a book release. Go out to town repeatedly until it triggers an event where you go to the bookstore. Apparently you have to visit at least one of the shops in the shopping district (商店街) to get it to trigger, I’m not sure about that. If you miss this event, say good bye to Aizawa.
When you get the option, choose to buy a book.

December-January
You’ll get an event where you lend the book to Miyo-chan.

February – March
Check the homepage for info about another book release. Go out again until you get the bookstore event to trigger (just like in October). You’ll run into Aizawa again and he’ll ask you to pretend to be his niece.

Automatic event
You’ll run into Aizawa again, and he’ll ask you to pretend to be his niece again.
Choose “Yes”.

The Following Sunday
Make sure you choose to go shopping the next Sunday. If you have club practice, you can go to practice and do it the following Sunday, but I don’t know if that’ll work if you have a date.

After you choose to go out, you have to choose, in order:
“Go see him”
“Call out to him”
“Don’t be so selfish!!” or “….” (both are fine)

3rd Year
April – June
Do not accept any invitations to walk home with a friend and do not invite anyone to walk home until this event triggers. You’ll run into Aizawa and get an event that takes place in a bar (it involves Himuro, whee!)

The Aizawa Command
After the bar event, you should find an “Aizawa” command next to the Shopping/Date command. Choose that command on weekends to go visit Aizawa. If you don’t choose it for 8 weeks in a row, it will disappear. That means you’ve lost him.
5th time you choose it: CG event
6th time you choose it: Event, command disappears

September
If you can’t read Japanese, you might get worried if you don’t see any Aizwa events for several months, but don’t worry. In September, Miyo-chan will send you an e-mail about “Bitter Chocolate Cake”. Choose to go out, and choose to go to the park. You’ll reminisce about Aizawa.

October
You’ll get an e-mail about an “Autumn Book Fair”. Go shopping, then go to the bookstore. Choose “Get a ticket to the book signing”.

19th November
Book signing takes place. Apparently you can choose either “I still want to see him’ or “I’ll just go home” and still get his ending. However if you choose the latter you won’t get his second CG, so choose to see him to be on the safe side.

28th January
Automatic if you choose the first option in the previous event (not sure, think so)
Miyo-chan finally returns your book (it’s been a whole year!!!). You’ll go to the bookstore and get a CG about Aizawa receiving the Nobelno Book Prize. He cleans up good, doesn’t he? I won’t post it here, see it for yourself.

After this his save icon should show up, and then you’re safe as long as you don’t let any other guys get in the way.

And that’s it! That wasn’t so hard, was it? The hard thing is getting his early events to trigger. When you go out once and twice and nothing happens, it’s easy to get discouraged. Don’t give up, keep going out and you should trigger it eventually. It’s all about patience. Happy Aizawa hunting!

Tokimeki Memorial Girl’s Side 3rd Story – Damn you Ruka!

You know I’m supposed to be going after novelist Aizawa Shougo in this route, right? You know that, don’t you? DON’T YOU, RUKA?!!

So why do you always have to ruin everything? Why do you always have to get in my way?! Damn you! Damn you!!!!!

Well… Okay, it was my fault a bit I guess. I missed a lot of Ruka CGs on his route because I spent much of it in a 3P relationship with Kou. So I tried to make up for it by befriending Ruka a bit so I could see them. It worked, but maybe it worked a little too well, because even though I got all of the Aizawa’s triggers and even got his save icon, on graduation day it was Ruka who showed up at the church. Like, whatever.

Turning him down was very satisfying though. He gives you a little “I will survive” speech and leaves, never to be seen again. If only I could carry this over to my next game and never see him again, heh heh heh.

And now I am very definitely sick of TMGS3, so I’m going to concentrate my energies on finishing Radiant Historia and possibly on starting something new after that, we’ll see.

Tokimeki Memorial Girl’s Side 3rd Story – Taira GET!

Ta-daa! Secret character No.1, Taira Kenta! Taira is a rather shy, awkward boy in your class whose confession you can only get by following a very specific series of events. Miss one and it’s good-bye to love.

Fortunately enough the steps are easy enough to follow and several of them are automatic so you know you’re on the right track. I got my info from Gamefaqs, but GF threads are known to disappear, so I’ll just reproduce the steps here so you can get him if you want. Remember, you can’t get him on your first playthrough, only subsequent ones.

1st Year

April 4th (04/04) – First Day of School
Before you meet Mr Oosako, the teacher, you need to touch him in class once. He’s the one with the “x” on his back on the far right hand side of the touch screen. See picture on the right.  After you meet Mr Oosako, you need to touch him again. He’ll then introduce himself…and get teased by his friends.

June 13th (06/13), Sports Day
During the folk dance, after you’re done dancing with all 3 or so of the main characters, he is the guy in the background dancing with the other girl. Touch him.

December 7th (12/07), Exams
Automatic Event.

December 12th (12/12)
Automatic Event, follow up from Dec 7th.

February 13th (02/13), Valentine’s Day
As you’re leaving school, you will hear Taira being teased by his friends about Valentine’s Day. He’s the guy in front of the shoe box near the center of the touchscreen. Touch him.

2nd Year

April 5th (04/05), First Day of School
Automatic event.

June 12th (06/12), Sports Day
Just like in the first year, you need to touch him after you’re done dancing with all the main characters.
September 13th, School Trip to Hokkaido
The bus scene, on the very first day. You need to touch the guy in front of the bus near the center of the touch screen.

October 1st
December 1st
January 8th

On the first two dates above, he will ask you to walk home with him after school. Say yes. On the third date, you can choose to ask him to walk home with you. You have to choose to, otherwise you’ll miss him.

February
Automatic event. You may need Rose Queen parameters (130 or more in everything) to trigger this, not sure.

3rd Year

April 4th (04/04), First Day of School
Automatic event.

June 11th (06/11), Sports Day
Touch him after you’re done dancing with the main characters.

October 30th (10/30), Preparation for Culture Festival
You need to have Rose Queen parameters going INTO this period to trigger Taira’s Culture festival event. Prepare with him for the play. Choose the Culture Festival event every single day, then enjoy the cute CG! Btw, you have to get chosen as Rose Queen to get his ending, so stay on top of your stats and make sure no guys detest you.

December 1st
After Mr Oosako’s little speech, you will see the same background as you did first year Valentine’s Day (in front of shoe boxes, leaving school). He’s the same guy in front of the shoe box. Touch him and there is a conversation event.

If you complete all of the above, you should get Taira’s save icon, and you should be in the clear.

The jury’s still out on whether getting any of the main guys to Tokimeki mode will override Taira’s ending, but just to be on the safe side, try to avoid going on too many dates with the other guys. It might be a bit hard because once your stats start to rise, the other guys start to like you even without you doing anything. To worsen matters, I was aiming for Rose Queen so I decided to be nice to everyone – buying them birthday presents, walking them home after school, etc.

After a while Ruka suddenly decided he was in love with me and started asking me out on dates. Geez, Ruka, haven’t you had enough? If it was Konno or Kou asking me out I’d have been in real trouble, but Ruka was easy enough to turn down. Oh, but I finally figured out why his grades are so skewed. It turns out he read all the textbooks cover to cover because he was bored in class. That makes exams easy for him. Math, he’s just good at math, but reading the textbook doesn’t help him in Japanese, which is why he always gets terrible grades in that. Well, that’s better than Hazuki randomly falling asleep, I guess.

I spent all of yesterday working on the Taira ending instead of playing more Radiant Historia. I don’t know about that game…wait, mustn’t make another of my snap judgments. Anyway, since I wasn’t dating and rarely went shopping on the Taira route, I had many more days to work on my stats, so they were ridiculously high by the end. Over 200 for everything! Naturally I decided to go to a 1st-class university at the end, only to find out that Taira only got into a 2nd-class uni. Oh no, poor Taira. With him in another school and me and Konno together in one place…tut tut, it’s all over for you, dear boy. :D

I also took the chance and started the route for another secret character, the novelist Aizawa Shougo. But this time I’m really going to play Radiant Historia, so the report on cranky old Aizawa will have to wait till later. See ya!

Tokimeki Memorial Girls’ Side 3 – Ruka GET!

06.11.10 / Japanese, Konami, Nintendo DS, Otome game, Romance game, RPG, Tokimeki Memorial, Video game / Author: / Comments: (0)
Tags: , , , , , , , , ,

Finally! I’ve gone through all the standard guys in the game and gotten their ending! I’m feeling very satisfied now, I’m not sure why.

Well well, Sakurai Ruka huh? I believe I’ve referred to him as a slimebag and a borderline criminal in the past, but I take those words back now. He’s not such a bad guy at all. The Sakurai brothers just act tough to begin with but when you get to know them they’re really very sweet.

Ruka’s route was far less boring than, say Arashi’s or Shitara’s, but the boy himself didn’t move me. As befitting the main character, though, all his CGs were great. I only wish I’d gotten more of them, but what’s why these kinds of games have so much replay value. You get some fun events on his route too, like the school trip where you and Ruka and Kou sneak out to eat crabs and get caught by Himurocchi, and so on.

Ruka himself…well, he’s a decent kid. He starts out friendly to begin with, but it’s a friendly flirtatiousness designed to prevent anyone from coming too close. Once you get under his skin and he falls in love with you, he’s much more honest and forthcoming and I like that Ruka much better. I’ll put him third behind Kou and Konno because while I like him, in general those sensitive “boo hoo, I’m afraid to love because I’ve already lost so much boo hoo” guys always piss me off. Give me Konno or Kou any day.

And you know, the game did give me Kou! For no reason at all! I don’t know what I did but by third year Kou was in love with me and asking me out on dates and stuff! Okay, okay, maybe I did give him handmade chocolate that one time, and I did give him birthday presents twice, but that was it! Honest!

He’s a bad brother, seriously. How dare you fall in love with your little brother’s girlfriend! And how dare she accept your dates and go out with— *gulp* So! Anyway! Thanks to that, I got a three-way relationship by accident! You’ve heard of those, right? If you raise Ruka-Kou/Konno-Shitara/Arashi-Junpei’s affection to similar levels, you start being able to hang out with them together! Go on dates together, walk home together, and there are plenty of joint CGs you can’t get unless you do the triangle relationship. Because I was doing a three-way at a time, I got a joint CG for the school play, which was Romeo and Juliet with a twist and sooooo funny! I’m grinning just remembering it :D .

Eventually I felt a little guilty, so I turned Kou down a few times and before I knew it the three-way option was gone. After that I just had to work on my stats for the next few months and then get the Ruka ending! Yay! I’d like to go back and do a three-way sometime, but there’s still a couple of character endings to get, starting with Oosako’s…I really don’t want to do him. Starting with Taira then, but not just yet.

Up next, Radiant Historia is out! It sounds like a cross between Chrono Trigger/Cross (travel to the past to change the present) with hints of Stella Deus (world being swallowed up) and people say it looks like Radiata Stories, which I’ve never played.

I’m a sucker for lovely dreamy cover art like that, so I’ve been waiting a long time for this to come out! Plus I watched the trailers and the battle system looks like it’s turn-based (I hate Action RPGs), but not a bland “just mash X” kind of system, so it’ll keep me on my toes. Not to mention the promise of multiple endings means there’ll be lots of replay value,I hope! Time to play!

Get, but do not want. What do I do with him now, throw him away? Anyone want a free Junpei? Anyone?

His route was really bland. His CGs were bland. His activities were bland. His Christmas CG…wait, I don’t even remember what CG you get for his Christmas, is there even one? Plus since he’s a junior you don’t get to go on the school trip together. The school play with him was hilarious though, I actually laughed out loud at that bit.

All in all he’s a nice enough guy, but he seems really shallow to me. And the sad thing is, you can tell he’s ‘acting’ shallow to try and seem ‘cool’, but that the real Junpei is probably a very interesting and sensitive guy. For example when you ask him about his hobbies, he says “fishing” then he takes it back and he’s like…I forget what he said, but what’s wrong with liking “fishing”? Why can’t he be true to himself? My hope for his route would be to steadily peel away the layers and see the “real” Junpei beneath but no dice. He has a lot of growing up to do before I’ll ever consider him a serious romantic prospect.

Of course, part of the reason is that I just didn’t like his looks. Especially his weird sleepy-eyed face, those cheap-looking ear studs and that spiky hairdo. His voice grated on me after a while too. It got so bad after a while that whenever I’d run into him at school I’d be like *grooaaan* not you again… “Wanna walk home with me?” “Ugh, oh very well…I guess.” Whereas whenever I ran into Kou (which was often, I dunno why he seems to like me), I’d be like *yaaay, Kou!* “Wanna wa–” “Yes yes yes yes!”

The only plus to Junpei’s route – apart from the school play I mentioned earlier – is his straightforward confession. Most of the other guys come out and tell this loooooong story for like 5 minutes before they finally get to the “I love you” part, but Junpei comes right out and says it. Then he goes into the long story part, but at least he got to the point right away. Massive props for that.

This game really does have a lot of replay value. I’m on my 6th replay now, going through Ruka’s route. What I really want to be doing is dating Kou again (forgive me, Konno-sempai!!) but fair’s fair, I’ll give each of the characters a shot and then we’ll see.

I’ve still got the Oosako-sensei save I made long ago before I decided I didn’t really want to do his route yet. So Ruka -> Oosako -> Taira (secret character).

Messed up my page

I’m so depressed >_< I completely deleted my page through an ill-advised series of plugin updates that I won’t go into now. Anyway, now I’ve lost every single thing I’ve written in the past year, including all the comments and images.

Luckily Google cache has most of the pages saved, so I’m going to copy and paste those few articles it salvaged wholesale. However the order is going to be completely messed up.

The latest post I made, about getting Junpei in TMGS3, is here.

I’m still working on seeing if I can reinstall the backup I made yesterday on cPanel, but since I know, like, zero about that sort of thing I’m not holding out too much hope.

Let this be a lesson to all of us. Don’t mess with what you don’t know.

[Old post I made before site crash, which is why it's out of order]

This game was announced last month, but I haven’t posted about it because there’s nothing to post. I mean, it doesn’t matter WHAT they announce, I’m going to play it anyway. I might complain afterward, but I’m sure as hell not going to miss out on it, so just tell me the release date and let me start saving up.

A few minor details have come up about which guys are going to be in the game, but unlike in Harvest Moon, I prefer not to know who’s available ahead of time. Even the shot of the main guy at the top is a little much for me, especially since he doesn’t look my type. So don’t expect me to keep tabs on what’s going on in the world of TMGS3 until it’s good and ready to come out.

The paucity of info leads me to believe we won’t be seeing it for months and months anyway, so I’m going to focus on other things. Like using the time to conquer the few remaining guys in TMGS1. I only ever got Madoka, Himuro and the headmaster, so I’d like to get a few others (except Sakuya ‘cos he’s eww) while I wait. Busy busy busy.
